18 & Over Book Blogger Follow #6

20 Apr

18 & Over Book Blogger Follow is a weekly feature that runs over the weekend, hosted by Crystal from one of my favourite blog sites, Reading Between the Wines.

Question of the Week: Has a book ever left you feeling depressed? If so, make sure to share what it was and why.

Generally, I tend to steer clear of serious heartfail in stories, and much prefer a happy ever after.

What makes me depressed, though, is when an author whose work I had previously devoured suddenly loses the plot and their series become total wastes of paper. One such author for me, sadly, is Patricia Cornwell. I inhaled her first four books after they were recommended to me by numerous people, but over the years they have become annoying and I stopped buying them four or five books ago. Too much Lucy, not enough mystery. After 19 books I think Scarpetta should probably retire. A good author knows when to stop and leave their audience clamouring for more.

So, what depresses you? Do you agree with me about Scarpetta? Leave a comment below or link up HERE to follow the meme

LOL..It is frustrating to me when you become so invested in these characters and then the author screws them up!! That’s why I stick to HEA and why I sometimes read the epilogue or last chapter first!! LOL 🙂

I completely agree. Nothing is worse then loving a series just to find out the author has some how lost their mojo. I have not read these books and am planning on sticking to that. Thanks for the heads up!

Thank you also for stopping by my page.

i totally agree authors should end a series I believe before we want it to end. That wa we will always want more and still think it’s good. The Anita Blake series did that for me I stopped reading that ages a go.

Here is mine if you get chance to stop by Claire’s Book Corner

    Have a wonderful weekend.

I agree with you…it’s hard to watch a series that you devoured so viciously in the beginning, suddenly lose its flavor. I used to read Patricia’s books, but haven’t done so in a while.

There is nothing worse then investing yourself in a series only to have the ending disappoint you. 😦
Thanks for participating in the follow!
