Welcome back to Stacking the Shelves, a regular meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga’s Reviews. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the latest books you have added to your shelves, physical or virtual.  This means you can include books you buy in store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course e-books!

Netgalley continued feeding my addiction this week by granting me access to the ARC of Rock Redemption, by Nalini Singh, the latest in her new contemporary romance series, Rock Kiss. I love how this series is set in New Zealand, and has rock stars AND rugby players 🙂

26134300I’ve joined the blog tour for Laura Kaye‘s new release next week, Hard As Steel, a crossover novella linking her Hard Ink series with her new Raven Riders series. So this week I was sent a copy from the publisher through InkSlinger PR.

23269593Since I hadn’t read the last book in that series, I bought the audiobook of Hard To Let Go so I could be up to date before starting the novella. I’m listening to it at the moment and it’s great.

23003746While at Audible, I also bought An Ember in the Ashes, by Sabaa Tahir, about which I have heard nothing but good things. I also needed a few more titles starting with E for my reading challenges 😉

25296289And, finally, since it was on special, I also bought the audiobook of The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay. I’ve been meaning to read this for a while and couldn’t resist it on special.

16151178Whew! So that’s it for this week. Keep an eye out for my reviews of these in coming weeks. So what new books did you pick up this week? Let me know in the comments.

I got a bit carried away on Netgalley this week, and have requested far too many books! So far two of them have been approved, but there are still several pending – I just hope I can find time to read them all! The first was The Masked Truth by Kelley Armstrong, which looks soooooo good!

25727687The second was The Unfortunate Decisions of Dahlia Moss by Max Wirestone, which was a featured book as part of Netgalley’s 2015 challenge. This one took my fancy because of its blurb and the quirky cover.

25162644Finally, I bought Shadow’s Claim by Kresley Cole from Audible this week. I needed a book with the word “shadow” in the title to complete a reading challenge, and haven’t read this IAD series offshoot yet.

12988016So that’s it for this week. Keep an eye out for my reviews of these in coming weeks. So what new books did you pick up this week? Let me know in the comments.

Pre-ordered from Amazon

I missed a week, not having bought anything in the last week of May, but this week has been a different story, with a whole lot of my pre-orders being issued. I received my pre-order of Suddenly One Summer by Julie James from Amazon. She’s an auto-buy for me and I can’t wait to start it. That cover is so pretty! Also, because it was only 99c on Kindle, I bought Karma Girl by Jennifer Estep – another auto-buy for me.

I also received my pre-order of two novellas: One Night With You by Marie Force from Audible, and Honeymoon from Hell Part 1 by R.L. Mathewson from iBooks (purple covers for the win!).

Finally, Netgalley granted my request for Thank You, Goodnight by Andy Abramowitz, which sounds like a fun read.

Netgalley approved my request for Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen. I haven’t read the first book – The Queen of the Tearling – yet, so I picked that up this week, too, from Audible.

From Amazon I purchased One Last Kiss and One More Kiss by Susan Ward, and later in the week grabbed her The Girl on the Half Shell, which was free. I’m reading the later books in these series out of order, so thought it was about time I bought the earlier books.

Audible had a half-price sale on my entire wishlist, so of course I couldn’t let that pass. I purchased Endless Knight by Kresley Cole, Off the Grid by Faith Hunter, and pre-ordered One Night With You by Marie Force.

Netgalley approved my request for The One In My Heart, a new contemporary romance by Sherry Thomas.

While waiting to see if I’d won a competition for Catherine Robertson‘s new book, The Hiding Places – I think I was unsuccessful – I downloaded her free novella, May Day, from New Zealand iBooks. I also received my pre-order of Story of Son, by J.R. Ward.

My only other purchase this week was from Amazon, and was The Shadows by J.R. Ward.  I waited a couple of weeks for the price to come down before I bought this, purely because I’m not sure I’m going to like it once I start reading, based on all my friends’ reviews, and it would annoy me more if I had paid top dollar for it! The price had dropped by a third since its release day, so I think it was worth waiting.

Library audiobooks I checked out

From my local public library I checked out two audiobooks: All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven and The Selection by Kiera Cass. Such pretty covers!

Netgalley granted me access to Mug Meals by Dina Cheney, and you can read my review here.

New Zealand iBooks had Paullina Simons’ early books on sale at $4.99 each, so I picked up Bellagrand and Children of Liberty, both prequels to the amazing The Bronze Horseman, which is one of my favourite books of all time.

Amazon had an 18-book bundle, Red Hot Lovers, on sale for 77c which had a book in it I had wanted to read by Daisy Prescott. On its own the book was $3.99, so I grabbed the 77c bundle just for Daisy Prescott’s Ready to Fall. Also on Amazon, I snapped up the freebie novella Valentine by Samantha Young, which was in Alex Margaret’s Stacking the Shelves last week. Thanks for that tip, Alex!

There was also a two-for-one-credit sale at Audible, through which I grabbed The Beautiful Ashes by Jeaniene Frost and Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas. I really need to read Throne of Glass – it’s been on my TBR for ages, and Jeaniene Frost is pretty much an auto-buy for me.

Not bad for one week, eh? I’d better get reading and listening! Keep an eye out for my reviews of these in coming weeks. So what new books did you pick up this week? Let me know in the comments.

Netgalley e-ARC requests

As I mentioned last week, I have just joined Netgalley, and this week I was granted access to a surprising number of my requests. I’m clearly going to have to pace myself! So far I have already read Sea of Stars (Kricket, book 2) by Amy A. Bartol and the sneak peek of Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen and absolutely loved them. You can read my reviews here and here. Also in my Netgalley haul were Lone Star by Paullina Simons, In the Shadow of Winter by Lorna Gray, The Confectioner’s Tale by Laura Madeleine, The Blondes by Emily Schultz, 1,000 Foods To Eat Before You Die by Mimi Sheraton, and Techbitch by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza. Such pretty covers, don’t you think?

Bought by me this week

New Zealand iBooks had a promotion this week on New Adult series, with the first in several series free. I can’t resist a freebie, and managed to pick up I Want It That Way by Ann Aguirre, After by Anna Todd, All Lined Up by Cora Carmack, and White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout. There was also a sale at Audible, through which I managed to pick up Snow Falling on Bluegrass by Molly Harper, and Red Rising by Pierce Brown.

Not bad for one week, eh? I’d better get reading! Keep an eye out for my reviews of these in coming weeks. So what new books did you pick up this week? Let me know in the comments.
