Back cover blurb:
How far will Rose go to keep her promise? The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir’s Academy was the deadliest ever in the school’s history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them. . . including Dimitri.
He’d rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa—the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?
My review:
I thought the first half, while interesting with all the new characters to introduce, moved very slowly and I just wanted to get on with the Dimitri storyline. Then when she did finally meet up with him, I felt Rose was strangely unemotional and I didn’t really care too much what was happening to her – although maybe that was due to the fact she was in a drugged stupor a lot of the time.Lissa has never been my favourite, so the business with Avery back at the Academy was rather ho-hum for me, but I have to admit the ending was really good and produced some great developments for the next book. I just know there has to be a happy ending.
My rating: 3.5/5
